OCVL Research

Current Research | Funding

The Ocular and Computer Vision Laboratory at the Marquette University and Medical College of Wisconsin Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering uses non-invasive imaging technologies in combination with image processing techniques to perform structure and functional assessments of individual cells in living eyes. These technologies and techniques are essential for assessing the functional state of individual retinal cells following therapeutic interventions such as gene therapies, stem cell transplantations, and more.

Current Research

The current focus of OCVL research is two-pronged: First, the OCVL is actively exploring the enhancement of nascent assays of retinal function, with a particular focus on sensitivity and robustness. Second, the OCVL is researching and developing tools that will enhance the image processing and analysis landscape of the adaptive optics community. We aim to achieve this goal through both open-source software initiatives and selected business partnerships.
