Faculty
Dr. Robert Cooper
Dr. Robert Cooper received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Marquette University in 2016. He then completed a 4-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania before returning to Marquette University and the Medical College of Wisconsin as an assistant professor of Biomedical Engineering. His research interests include measuring photoreceptor mosaic structure and function using advanced noninvasive techniques, developing tools for image processing and automated analysis, as well as clinical imaging modalities for studying the etiology of retinal disease.

Lab Members
Brea Brennan
As a Ph.D. Student in the OCVL, Brea Brennan is interested in exploring computing techniques and their application to functional and structural images of photoreceptors. Specifically, she is investigating how computing is used in the registration of images obtained through Adaptive Optics, along with how data is abstracted from these images.

Mina Gaffney
As a Ph.D. Student in the OCVL, Mina Gaffney is exploring the structure-function relationships within photoreceptors. Specifically, she is interested in leveraging Adaptive Optics Scanning Light Ophthalmoscopy (AOSLO) to perform optoretinography and psychophysical experiments in populations with retinal pathologies.

Jenna Grieshop
As a Research Engineer in the OCVL, Jenna Grieshop supports research initiatives by developing new iterations of software, installing new hardware, and implementing new imaging approaches. Jenna divides her time between the OCVL and the Advanced Ocular Imaging Program, a laboratory supported by the Medical College of Wisconsin that works closely with Dr. Cooper and the OCVL.

Ruth Woehlke
As a Ph.D. Student in the OCVL, Ruth Woehlke is interested in exploring clinical imaging, computer programming, and the principles of engineering as pertaining to optics design. Specifically, she is investigating how to modify an Adaptive Optics Scanning Light Ophthalmoscope (AOSLO) with varying illumination types to enable both arbitrary-angle split detection and increased final image resolution for use in retinal imaging.
