Researchers at the Motion Analysis Laboratories are currently seeking students for an assessment of typical gait and mobility. The purpose of this research study is to create a database of typical adult gait data in order to identify pattern deviations in persons with orthopaedic and neuromuscular disabilities.
Procedure
Participation in this study will involve one visit to the Orthopaedic & Rehabilitation Engineering Center (OREC) at Marquette University, Olin 329. During the visit, participants will complete a quantitative motion analysis session—walking barefoot in a laboratory while cameras and sensors track and record body movement and lower-extremity muscular activity.
Eligibility
To be eligible for participation in this study, applicants must be:
- 18 years of age or older;
- able to walk unassisted;
- able to understand instructions required to complete motion capture;
- free from orthopaedic and/or neuromuscular disability; and
- free from prior history of fracture, neurological or musculoskeletal surgery.
COVID/PPE Precautions
Participants will be required to wear a mask at all times. The participant and researcher will maintain social distance except when the researcher is placing the reflective markers and EMG surface electrodes, in which case the researcher will wear gloves in addition to a face mask and face shield.
