About BIMA
Led by Dr. Jeffrey Toth, Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Director of Biomaterials Research in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, the Biomaterials and Histology Laboratory is one of several research laboratories working under the umbrella of the Orthopaedic & Rehabilitation Engineering Center, a joint effort of Marquette University and the Medical College of Wisconsin. With facilities located on the Marquette University campus, research at OREC's BIMA Laboratory includes the evaluation of bone void fillers and bone graft substitutes, mechanisms and clinical applications of osteoinductive materials, and evaluation of materials for orthopaedic and spine devices.

Meet the Director
Dr. Jeffrey Toth is a key faculty member of OREC, a joint effort between the Medical College of Wisconsin and Marquette University. Dr. Toth’s primary appointment is Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Director of Biomaterials Research in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Toth holds a secondary appointment as Professor in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at MCW. Dr. Toth also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Biomaterials at the Marquette University School of Dentistry and Adjunct Professor of Biomedical Engineering in the Marquette-MCW Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering.

November 2020: Dr. Toth recently served as a panelist on the “Biomechanics of Artificial Disc Replacement (ADR) Design Rationale: Material Differences” DOCS SPINE + ORTHOPEDICS 2nd Annual “Hybrid” Spine Arthroplasty Summit held November 13th and 14th this year in Los Angeles, California.
