Director and Principal Investigator

Dr. Bing Yu is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Director and Principal Investigator of the Biophotonics Laboratory at the Marquette University and Medical College of Wisconsin Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering. His work focuses on the development of technologies targeting cancer detection and endotracheal tube placement monitoring using the science of biophotonics.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Tongtong comes to Marquette University from Zhejiang University, where he graduated in 2016 with a focus in Optical Engineering.  He was awarded his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Marquette University and the Medical College of Wisconsin Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering in Spring '22. His research focuses on fluorescent and polarization imaging and image processing for intraoperative assessment of tumor margins.

Tianling Niu is working on her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering with a focus on Monte Carlo Simulation in endotracheal tube displacement and low-power laser irritation therapy in cancer cells.

Allison received her Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical engineering at MSOE in 2019.  Her interests include instrumentation and image processing.  She is currently working with the Smart ME.

Pouya MirzaeiPouya Mirzaei

Pouya received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Sciences at Marquette University in May of 2023 and is working towards his Master's in Biomedical Engineering. His focus is biophotonic breast tumor margin imaging.
