Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering Welcomes Dr. Ying Fang

Headshot of Dr. Ying FangAugust 17, 2026

Ying Fang, PhD, has been appointed assistant professor in the Marquette University and Medical College of Wisconsin Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering.

Dr. Fang received her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and completed postdoctoral training in Mechanical Engineering at Northern Arizona University, where she received an NIH F32 Postdoctoral Fellowship. Prior to joining MU-MCW, Dr. Fang was an assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Rosalind Franklin University.

Dr. Fang’s research integrates biomechanics, rehabilitation engineering, and musculoskeletal modeling to understand and improve movement and musculoskeletal function in diverse populations. Her work investigates the mechanisms underlying functional limitations due to neurological disorders and aging and develops novel interventions to restore function, prevent injuries, and accelerate recovery. As an avid rock climber, Dr. Fang brings a personal appreciation for movement and active living to her work. Her long-term goal is to help people of all ages stay healthy, active, and injury-free.

As part of her appointment, Dr. Fang will also be teaching undergraduate biomechanics courses at Marquette's Opus College of Engineering.

Welcome, Dr. Fang!
