The Marquette-MCW Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering graduate student representatives are pleased to invite students, faculty, and staff to attend the Biomedical Engineering Research Day, 2026. This annual event celebrates the innovative research being conducted across our department with the intent of fostering discussion and connectivity amongst our community.

Location: Marquette Alumni Memorial Union (AMU)—Cenntenial Room 227
Cost: This event is free to attend. Registration is required.
The day will feature two research poster sessions, student research presentations, professional development programming for graduate students, and time for networking and socializing. Our Keynote address will be presented by recent Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering Ph.D. recipient Dr. Joseph Avila, and lunch will be provided.

Dr. Joseph Avila received his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the Marquette-MCW Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering doctoral program in 2021 with a focus on trauma biomechanics for transportation, having studied under Joint Department Founding Chair Dr. Frank Pintar. Dr. Avila is currently serving as a senior analysis engineer in occupant protection at Tesla Inc.

This event is open to all members of the Marquette and Medical College of Wisconsin community, including faculty, students and staff.
Undergraduate students in the College of Engineering are especially encouraged to attend our poster sessions and keynote address to learn more about current biomedical engineering research and graduate study opportunities.
