Dr. Amit Joshi Named Vice Chair for Research and Clinical Affairs

The Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering is thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Amit Joshi, Ph.D. to the position of Vice Chair for Research and Clinical Affairs. Dr. Joshi has graciously agreed to step into this role, which will include coordination of pre- and post-award grant activities, strategizing with Marquette’s College of Engineering’s Associate Dean for Research on initiatives and collaborative opportunities, and expanding our young faculty mentoring program. Dr. Joshi will also assist with connecting our faculty with clinical collaborators and help to expand our undergraduate course in clinical immersion.

Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Director of the Nanomedicine and Image-Guided Interventions Laboratory (NIGIL), Dr. Joshi’s research includes fundamental investigations of near-infrared and shortwave infrared light transport in tissue, development of novel imaging and light-triggered therapeutic nanoparticles, and the integration of optical and multimodal imaging and remotely triggered nanotechnologies into clinical image-guided intervention workflows. These methodologies are directed at developing minimally invasive and non-toxic diagnostic and therapeutic technologies for cancer, pulmonary and infectious disease, and other vascular pathologies.
